The Generator series are creative sonic tools.

Call me crazy, but I've always wanted some simple sound generating / noise making devices that could exist easily among other pedals for guitar/bass/keyboard/etc players. There are many builds of similar devices for tabletop or eurorack use, but many are in more fragile enclosures and would require a/b pedals or other routing to work in a guitar set up - all of which takes up more space, adds to the expense, and simply isn't that practical.

GENERATOR 9

Generator 9 is a chaotic and harsh noise device. Perpetually in a state of self destruction via an array of feedback loops, it is capable of unpredictable and devastating results.

As the circuit collapses in on itself, current sounds will determine future sounds and a turn of the knob may yield unexpected or unrepeatable results. Control behavior can feel different at times, depending on the current settings and sounds. Nonetheless, familiarizing yourself with the general behavior of the controls will reward your efforts at directing the mayhem.

See Diagram for Control Information.

The INPUT control allows your input signal to pass through the device unaffected. With the INPUT knob all the way down, the input signal will be muted, and all the way up will provide a substantial boost. This control is independent of the OUTPUT knob.

The OUTPUT control sets the volume of Generator 9's noise output. This control has no effect on the input signal volume.

If using the INPUT to allow your input signal through, it is beneficial to consider where in your signal chain to place Generator 9. For example, if you are playing guitar through a distortion pedal, you could either: (a) place Generator 9 before the distortion, which would fuse the guitar and noise together and create a dynamic interaction between them and the distortion circuit, or (b) place Generator 9 after the distortion which will result more in the noise being a layer on top of the distorted guitar signal. Both strategies have their merits and experimentation is encouraged.

Each time the device is turned off via the foot switch the existing sound is wiped clean and turning it on will start fresh. With this in mind, if you are looking for a specific result when first turning it on, you will need to experiment with turning it on and off and setting the controls as desired.

Generator 9 can be much louder than a guitar or bass. Proceed with caution!
