The Hook Octave circuit has been laying in wait for a couple of years, only talked about in hushed circles and experienced by a select few, but the time has come to unleash this snarling octave fuzz version of the Hook Echo upon the masses!

The Hook Octave can play nice, but it excels at getting weird.

A PT2399 fuzz delay, pushed well beyond its reasonable limits - with an added octave fuzz blend at the input.

The Hook Octave features a further extended delay time than the Hook Echo - over 2 Seconds of distressed delays (measured ~ 2200ms).

Pitch bending, pseudo-looping, and complete audio deterioration are all on tap, and combine to create unique washes and sonic textures.

The echo/fuzz of the PT2399 chip is not a fuzz circuit into a delay circuit, nor is it a delay circuit into a fuzz circuit. Here, fuzz and delay are intertwined as a single ecosystem, allowing for a wide array of unique sounds and textures, from functional to mind-bending.


Volume 
Output Level - Be warned, the Hook Octave has an extreme amount of volume on tap.

Time 
Sets the Delay Time - Longer delays push the limits of the PT2399 delay chip length into noisier territory. Delay times will get longer as the Starve knob is turned up as well.

Octave 
An octave fuzz blend at the beginning of the circuit, before the PT2399 fuzz and delay. All the way down is “Clean” or no octave fuzz. All the way up is full octave fuzz and no clean. In between those two is any amount of octave fuzz blend you desire.

Diffuse 
Sets the balance of delay repeats and fuzz, though not quite in the way of a conventional “mix” knob. All the way down is more Fuzz and less Delay. As Diffuse is turned up the delay repeats become more audible and the Fuzz shifts it's emphasis. As Diffuse moves even higher you can dial in higher Delay Gain settings and achieve some borderline looping and other extremes. Note: Diffuse is interactive with Delay Gain.

Tone 
A traditional fuzz Tone control that shifts brighter as it is turned up. Extreme Contour settings will greatly change the feel of the sweep of the Tone knob. Experimentation is encouraged.

Feedback
Delay repeats. Fine tuning between Feedback and Delay Gain will determine delay repeats and the vibe of the repeats.

Delay Gain
Sets the dirtiness of the delay. All the way down is the safest and suggested starting point, depending where other settings are. Delay Gain is very interactive with the Diffuse knob. When Diffuse is low, the Delay Gain will oscillate very quickly at low settings. As the Diffuse is set higher, you can find endless delays and textures by balancing the Delay Gain to taste.

Starve
Reduces power to the PT2399 delay chip. All the way down is full power and normal operation. Approaching noon gives subtle variations in tone and texture. Around noon things get glitchier and squelchier.  Around 3 o’clock to all the way up, you will find lofi vibes and washy tones. At higher settings the output volume will need to be turned up as the circuit has a lower output at this lower voltage.

Contour 
Adjusts the shape and midrange emphasis of the Tone Stack and works in conjunction with the Tone knob.  Pro Tip - Turning the Contour all the way up results in a high cut which eliminates fizzier sounds / hiss and can provide lofi textures and tones with glitchier / more washed out settings.

Distress
All the way down is the suggested starting point or "Normal" setting. Up to noon Distress will give shades of pitch bend on the repeats. Above noon, these bends can get chaotic, or glitchy, or just be complete noise. Distress results are interactive with the Delay Gain, Delay Time, Diffuse, and Starve settings.
