PORTRAYAL OF GUILT / MATT KING DUAL DRIVE

$185.00

SOLD OUT
Thanks to all who ordered.

Limited to 50 pedals.

Limited to 1 per person.

Orders will ship November 5th and 7th. Orders with other pedals included will take longer to ship due to the necessary additional build time.

Developed in conjunction with Matt King from Portrayal Of Guilt, this dual drive pedal can attain a devastating amount of combined gain and volume. The right side of the pedal is the incredibly versatile Tube Nightmare overdrive circuit, while the left side is a unique and highly saturated boost circuit that goes from a fiery boost to a high gain explosion.

In development since May of 2022. If you've been lucky enough to catch Portrayal Of Guilt since that time, then you have experienced an iteration of these circuits first hand!

The two circuits are completely independent and can be used together or individually. The overdrive on the right comes first in the signal chain and then goes into the boost/drive on the left.

BOOST/DRIVE
[ LEFT FOOTSWITCH / CLEAR KNOBS ]

GAIN
For a more traditional boost start at a low gain setting. The gain heats up quickly and above noon unleashes raw fury. It is normal to hear some slight noise when adjusting this knob.

LEVEL
Sets the output volume for the left side Boost/Drive circuit.

INTERNAL HOT/NORM SWITCH
Located inside the pedal is a switch to transform the gain range from its default HOT setting to that of a normal boost for those looking for a cleaner boost application.

OVERDRIVE
[ RIGHT FOOTSWITCH / BLACK KNOBS ]

CLIP
A new way to approach diode clipping (distortion) and may take a little exploration to get familiar with its feel. All the way down is the standard screaming clipping. This setting has the highest gain and the lowest output volume. Turned all ll the way up removes the clipping diodes and is the most clean with the highest output volume. Depending on your amp and other effects this may feel somewhat like a clean blend, or like an adjustable amount of dynamic range / headroom. If running into an overdriven amp you might think of turning the CLIP knob up as choosing to push the amp harder, and turning it down as choosing to work the pedal more. Because the CLIP knob affects the amount of overdrive and output volume, you will most likely want to consider the relative DRIVE and LEVEL controls when dialing in CLIP settings.

BASS
A pre-drive bass emphasis. As such, this adds some gain as well as low-end into the signal.

BRIGHT
A post-drive presence control. Turn it down for less harshness, or turn it up for more pick attack and chime.

DRIVE
Controls the amount of overdrive, with a wider sweep than traditionally found in this circuit - the range gets both cleaner and gainier than a stock screamer at either end of the knob turn.

TONE
Standard mid-forward screamer tone control.

LEVEL
Sets the output volume for the right side overdrive circuit.
