Distort One - Versatile Distorter

A collaboration between Dead Air and Enduring Audio, Distort One starts with the 90s orange distortion pedal we all love or hate ( or maybe a bit of both!? ) and adds multiple versatile modifications to shape the EQ and distortion characteristics.

The classic controls for Gain (Distortion), Tone, and Level all remain, and the bottom row of controls unlock the added modifications.

The Mid Voice modification allows you to go from a mid forward tone at lower settings to an aggressive scoop at higher settings. If you’re looking for something close to the original you’ll want to have this control set fairly high. The next major update is the option of LED clipping. The original circuit utilized silicon diodes which yield a highly compressed and crunchy distortion.

The SI-LED modification allows you to transition from silicon diode clipping to LED clipping which offers higher output, less compression, and thicker distortion. As you turn this control up (clockwise) you’ll transition from a crunchy, highly compressed distortion to a more open and organic overdrive with higher output volume.

Lastly, the High Cut modification allows further tailoring of high frequency response. This is a cut control, so set to minimum for the brightest setting. This control adjusts high frequencies differently than the tone control, so experimenting with both will give you maximum control over high frequency response.

The original crunchy “can of angry bees” distortion is still available but so is a fuller, lower compression distortion and much more!

GAIN - Controls the level of distortion.

TONE - Classic tone control, increasing brightness when turned up.

LEVEL - Output Volume.

MID VOICE - Adjusts the mid range from a mid forward tone at minimum to a rather extreme scoop at maximum. This control will affect output volume.

SI-LED - Transitions from silicon diode clipping to LED clipping as the control is turned up (clockwise). This control will affect output volume.

HIGH CUT - Allows for cutting high end with the brightest setting at minimum. This can be quite interactive with the tone control so experiment with the two.
